18cm wide · 7.5cm overall height · 700mL capacity · 11.5cm suction base · 0.14kg
A standard dinner plate asks a lot of a hand that shakes or tires easily. The SectorCare Scoop Bowl replaces it with a high sided dish that does some of the work instead. The rear wall curves up and back to 7.5cm, so food gathers against it and loads onto the spoon in one steady movement rather than several attempts. At 700mL the bowl holds a full serve of soup, stew, porridge or a plated meal, and the 18cm width keeps it compact enough for a bedside tray table.
Underneath, a removable silicone suction base grips smooth tabletops and stops the bowl sliding or tipping while the user pushes food against the rim. A pull tab releases the seal when the meal is finished, and the base lifts away completely so nothing collects beneath it. The bowl itself weighs 0.14kg, light enough to lift and reposition one handed, and the wide flat rim gives both the user and the carer a secure grip point. Inside, the surfaces are smooth and rounded with no tight corners, in a food safe material that rinses clean and resists staining.
With a 7.5cm raised scooping lip, a 700mL bowl and a removable silicone suction base that grips smooth surfaces, the SectorCare Scoop Bowl helps people with limited hand control keep feeding themselves at home, in aged care, in rehabilitation and in supported living settings across Australia.
How big is the scoop bowl?
It measures 18cm wide and 7.5cm to the top of the raised lip, with a 700mL capacity. The suction base is 11.5cm across.
Does the suction base come off for washing?
Yes. The silicone base is fully removable, so both parts rinse clean with no trapped residue underneath.
Will it hold on any table?
It grips smooth, flat surfaces such as laminate tables, glass and hospital tray tables. Textured or fabric covered surfaces reduce the hold.
Can it be used for soup?
Yes. At 700mL it is deep enough for soups, stews and porridge, not only solid food.
Who is it designed for?
Adults with tremors, arthritis, limited grip or one handed eating after a stroke, and the carers supporting them at mealtimes.
